Welcome back to Easy Guitar Chords! Today we are going to look at a couple more beginning guitar chords to build our foundation. So, let’s get started! The “G” chord is first of our focus today. To successfully play this guitar chord, you begin by placing your index finger (#1 finger) on the “A” string on the second fret. Next, you will place your middle (#2 finger) on the low “E” string on the 3rd fret. Finally, place your pinky (#4 finger) on the 3rd high “E” string on the 3rd fret. This chord may stretch your fingers the first few times your play it, but keep working on it you will soon master it with ease. Make sure not to touch other strings with your fingers to avoid that buzzing sound when strumming the chord.
To remind us of the finger numbering, see this example.

Next let’s look at the “D” chord. This chord will not stretch your finders as much, but is a much tighter feel for your fingers. First place your #1 finger (index finger) on the “G” string on the 2nd fret. Next, place your #2 finger (middle finger) on the high “E” string on the 2nd fret. Finally, place your #3 finger (ring finger) on the “B” string on the 3rd fret. Now, strum the chord, but be careful not the play the low “E” string and the “A” string as those notes are not needed for this chord.
